What Is Digital Accessibility?
Digital accessibility is the practice of ensuring that digital content and technologies is usable for everyone, regardless of ability. For digital content to be accessible, it must be perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust.
Why Digital Accessibility Matters
When documents, websites, and instructional materials are designed to be accessible from the start, barriers are reduced and all users benefit — students with disabilities, multilingual learners, staff or students using assistive technologies, and those accessing content in varied environments.
This commitment reflects UMB’s core values. Digital accessibility ensures that every person in the UMB community has meaningful and equal access to learning opportunities, events, and other important information.
ADA Title II
On April 24, 2024, the Federal Register published the DOJ’s final rule updating its regulations for Title II. The final rule establishes requirements for ensuring that digital content is accessible to people with disabilities who access the services and programs of State universities.
